Preventing the Incidence of the Disease and the Importance of Early Detection of Complications
On November 14, the entire world celebrates World Diabetes Day, one of the most significant health-related global observances. This occasion provides an opportunity to raise awareness and gather information about the risks, treatment, and prevention of diabetes.
This year's campaign by the International Diabetes Federation focuses on ensuring that people with diabetes have access to information and care for preventing diabetes-related complications, and that those at risk of type 2 diabetes know the steps to prevent the disease. The slogan: “Know your risk, know your responses”.
Complications related to diabetes can be severe and potentially life-threatening. These include damage to the heart, eyes, kidneys, and feet. The risk of these complications causes significant stress for the patient group.
Type 2 diabetes, which accounts for more than 90% of all diabetes cases, often develops silently, with symptoms remaining unnoticed. As a result, many sufferers of the disease – more than 50% in some countries – are not diagnosed at all or are diagnosed too late.
Early diagnosis and appropriate care are crucial to avoiding and overcoming complications. Let’s join forces to combat diabetes complications! Let's help society recognize diabetes early!
